About

The language of instruction of the Department of Mathematics Education is Turkish and the duration of education is 4 years. The program includes courses that will strengthen pre-service teachers' field, field education and pedagogical knowledge and prepare them to become a qualified mathematics teacher. The courses are carried out theoretically and practically. Graduates who successfully complete all the requirements of the program gain a bachelor's degree in mathematics teaching.

The main purpose of the Mathematics Teaching program is to provide pre-service teachers with the basic knowledge, technological knowledge, skills, experience and abilities that they will need in the context of "Mathematics Teaching Special Field Competencies" developed by the Ministry of National Education. On the other hand, it is also aimed to train mathematics teachers who can be a true model for their students in their personal and professional lives, can directly follow the developments in their field, use their time efficiently and communicate effectively, adopt scientific ethical rules, are aware of lifelong learning, and are sensitive to people, society and nature. In order to achieve this aim, education and training activities are carried out in our Department that combine theoretical field knowledge and theoretical education knowledge, synthesize theoretical education knowledge and technological knowledge, and crown these with school practices and experiences.

There are 23 lecturers who teach and work in various fields of expertise in our department. There are 9 professors, 5 associate professors, 4 doctoral lecturers, 1 lecturer and 4 research assistants among the teaching staff.

The main characteristic of our department that distinguishes it from similar departments is that it has faculty members who are both strong in the field of Mathematics and specialized in Mathematics Education.
